How it works

This calculator estimates your drone's ideal takeoff weight based on propeller size and disc loading. Disc loading is the weight supported by the propeller area - higher values mean the props are working harder to lift the same weight.

Formula:

Ideal Weight = π × Prop Diameter² × Disc Loading Factor

Agile (4-6): Props work lightly - great for racing, long-range, and responsive handling.

Balanced (6-8): Sweet spot for freestyle - good control without being twitchy.

Stable (8-14): Heavier feel - ideal for cinematic smooth shots and tiny whoops where wind resistance matters more than agility.

Important: Going too light? Your drone will be overpowered, twitchy, and inefficient. Going too heavy? Motors overheat, response slows down, and battery life drops significantly.
